Rookie mistake

After many delays, I finally finished one of the vegetable beds. The tomatoes are in, I planted three types red, yellow cherry and big boys. In the square blocks I planted herbs and marigolds.
This year I made a rookie mistake, too much compost, making the Ph level totally off. Today I mixed in more regular soil, hopefully it will do the job

Check out my new rain barrel, 50 gallons of water plus an additional 30 gallon tank. With all the rain this week both are full

A good time was had by all

The happy couple
My two girls (the two sisters look alike, don't you think ) The little sister is also the maid of honor.

The best man giving a toast to the happy couple.

It rained at the end of the night, but we were able to enjoy the garden for most of the night.

Is party time

Tonight we are having a party for my daughter, to celebrate her engagement. We expect around 35 guest.

I worked all morning getting the garden ready, this is the most people I ever had in my small backyard ( I'm a little nervous)

The weather has been overcast the entire day, there is no rain in the forecast. I'm keeping my fingers cross.

On the road again

This is my first video with my new Nikon D3100, as you can see I'm not very good at it. This video does not do justice to the fall colors at the Maroon Bells in the White River National Forest near Aspen Colorado, the place was spectacular.

I will be traveling all this week for my job, (another week away from the garden) and next week I'm having 35 guest coming for my daughter engagement party

Pictures from Colorado

My wife and I returned from our mini vacation in the mountains of Colorado. This year the aspen trees were at their peak.

The top of Vail mountain.

Driving to the top of Independence Pass. it can test your nerves.

The top of the world

The Maroon Bells, near the town of Aspen, simply spectacular.

Hiking is one of the reasons we go to the mountains, that's me leading the way.

Taking a ride to the top of Aspen mountain, you can see the town below.
