Photo day

The last couple of days we had torrential rains in South Florida, this morning the wet garden was not conducive for any gardening activity.
A good day to photograph all the blooms brought on by all the rain.  The clear morning didn't last long by noon the schedule daily rains were back.

The purple allmanda is blooming again, after a severe pruning this past winter
The heliconia or lobster claw, this plant is a pest but I love the flowers.

Someone told me that this is prayer plant, every year around this time it comes out of the ground and I get these beautiful purple flowers and by September or October they die.

Neoregelia (Fireball) this bromeliad loves full sun and rain

The Periwinkles are growing wild everywhere in my garden.
Monarch butterfly in the Mexican flame vine. (excuse my obsession with butterflies pictures)

Pink angel's trumpet, I also have a white plant and I'm looking for the yellow hybrid
The Plumeria tree is not naked any more

I am obsessed with butterflies pictures too, only I don't get much luck to get some good ones :) Your after rain garden looks so lush and fresh. Love that purple allmanda, I have the pink one, and I also gave a severe trim last winter, now they look even better.

Although the plant with the purple flowers resembles a prayer plant, it is actually a peacock ginger.

Yes, like Sallie said, that is a peacock ginger (Kaempferia pulchra). Love all your butterfly pics. And I am very envious of your plumeria! Mine are not naked anymore, but they still haven't bloomed.

It was lovely taking a little stroll around your garden today to see what's blooming after the rain. I just love your purple Allamanda and your Pink Angel's Trumpet! I agree with both Sallie and Floridagirl ... that is definitely Kaempferia. Although it's related to Prayer Plants, it's commonly called Peacock Ginger.

You can never take too many butterfly pictures. That Mexican flame vine can get out of control but it is the best butterfly and hummingbird attractor isn't it? Here in Central FL where I garden the winter weather usually takes care of keeping the flame vine in check. Love seeing all your tropical flowers.

Great photos of the butterflies.

Your blooms are all wonderful and everything looks so great after the rain we've been having.
