Miami's Cape Florida State Park

Yesterday my family and I visited the Cape Florida State Park or “El Farito” ( The lighthouse) as it's known by locals. The lighthouse was built in 1925 and is the oldest standing structure in Miami Dade County.
The beach at Cape Florida is considered one of the ten best in the US. This beach is well known to locals but is less famous than its northern neighbor, South Beach.

The day was perfect for the beach, and many families took advantage of the great weather. You can see the city sky line in the background.

The lighthouse is visible from anywhere on the beach.

The family enjoying the day.

Rusty, I haven't been to the beach in so long it hurts. Thanks for posting such beautiful photos of my favorite thing - the seashore. Hope you and your family had a great time with no sunburn.

Awe...
I'm so jealous now, Rusty. I haven't found time to spend a day on the beach in almost 2 years anymore. It's actually only a 80mls drive more to get to Galveston Island and still, the weekends have always been filled with doing something else.
I'm glad you had a great time and you share the pictures of the beach with us.
Best Regards
Paula Jo

As a native Floridian, the beach is a necessity for my soul. Glad you were able to enjoy with your family. That looks like a really nice spot even if it is on the "wrong" coast of Florida:)
