January bloom day at the DragonFly Garden

The freeze two weeks ago, left the garden lacking in color. Above is my newest resident frog.
The red Impatiens survived the cold weather because of their location in the garden.

This pink Rose is the only one that survived the freeze.

I purchased these Pansies for the first time this year. They should do well during our winter.

The Bolivian Sunset blooms this time of the year. This plant is very intrusive and if you are not careful, it will spread everywhere in the garden.

Your post put me in a time warp - Tuesday the 15th? My calander says it is still the 14th. Has south Florida developed its own time zone? Anyway - I'm digging the frog!

Lacking in color? All I see is color in your garden!

But, I realize a freeze is a big event in your Florida garden and might send you scrambling to protect your plants. It looks like your plants did quite well surviving it.

Thanks for posting for bloom day!

Rusty: Your pansies must have loved the cold weather we had! They are adorable and cheery. I could always count on my neighbor planting them in large numbers in her front yard right where I could enjoy them for the winter. Nice post... I'm working on my bloom day post.

What a friendly and colourful welcome to your blog Rusty. Love mr Frog!

Such colourful blooms there are in your garden. That orchid is wonderful and so are the blooms of your palm. I have never seen a palm bloom so thanks for that!

My blooms are up too!

Loads of color in your garden Rusty! Beautifull red flowers (I have to get some red into my garden). I loved the Bolivian Sunset, and ofcourse the welcoming frog :-)

I love the Bolivian sunset-if anything like that can invade mty garden I'd welcome it! Also spectacular pics of the Queen palm flowers. Have you ever tried to grow palms from seeds? Right now I have 2 dozen pretty good sized ones I grew from seeds collected any and everywhere, including Miami!

Lacking in color, you say? It must be BLINDINGLY beautiful in full bloom, then! :) Beautiful, Rusty.

Hi Rusty, I think you have loads of color. Of course we are starved for color right now in SW IN from where I live.

I have a palm indoors that has these sprigs with tiny green balls on them. I wondered if they were the makings of a bloom or is that it?? If you look at it on my blog maybe you could tell me. I don't remember seeing any blooms like you have on your gigantic palm. I will keep an eye on it to see if anything more develops. Meems is who sent me here to look.
