Day one of the 2009 hurricane season

Here we go again, another year of the dreaded hurricane season, time to make our preparations, go through the list of things to do and keep an eye on the daily weather reports. Isn’t fun living in the tropics?

Project one is done, now I have three to go for the year

This weekend I finished the trellis for the purple passion vine in the back of my house. All the wood I used was recycle wood from other projects and from dumpster diving; it-felt good doing carpentry work again, it is one of my favorite past times after gardening accurse.

'Hurricane season'! sounds pretty interesting and scary to me. I live at a place where we do get occasional strong winds but no hurricanes. I believe they can cause disasters.
It must require a strong conviction to have to rebuild all that beautiful stuff after a hurricane caused damage.
Have a safe season!

Yep its that time again...the season we on the coast dread!!! I HATE HATE HATE when a hurricane is headed my way...I have WAY too much yard junk to store away!!! Last year I put it all up because of Gustav, and didn't get anything from it. So for future reference I will wait until the last minute to put all the yard stuff up!

Rusty, I like your trellis for the passiflora vine. My dad is really good at carpentry (maybe I'll ask him to build me one like yours). And yes, hurricane season is here...

Hi Rusty, it must be unsettling to think about this season; yet at the same time so enjoyable too--with your lush garden and beauty all around. I hope you make it through the season with no damage! Your yard and garden look gorgeous!
