Correcting a mistake

Out with the honeysuckle in the front garden. What was I thinking, this is the most aggressive plant I ever seen. I am cutting it back and re-planting it in the back yard, I might regret it later but I have a thing about throwing plants away.

I replaced the honeysuckle with a red dipladenia also call a mandevilla. This vine does well in full sun; it blooms from spring to fall, is butterfly friendly and not very aggressive.

I am fighting the honeysuckle vine that is coming over from the neighbor's yard, so I know what a job you had. I hate to just throw away plants, but, I have to admit, I would when it comes to the common honeysuckle vine. I love the red dipladenia. I had one last year, and it was beautiful. Unfortunately, it did not do well after the winter and gradually faded away this spring.

Love the Mandevilla, we can grow them here too but only in pots as they have to overwinter inside.

BTW I have a hard time throwing plants away too.

Gday Rusty,, I would leave that honeysuckle in the pot and put on a concrete slab, if you put it in the ground it will be hard to keep in an area. love the red flowers they look lovely near the entrance..

I love the honeysuckle but I have a very large garden so can manage its aggressive behaviour....

I am sure the red dipladenia will look great....

It is fun to change things about anyway..........

Rusty, Sorry it's been a while since I've stopped by... last year hardly any rain ... this year ya'll have gotten lots more than us up here on the West Coast.

Is that the Cape Honeysuckle? I don't have it but I've read how it gets really big.

I DO love my pink Diplademia but I am always drawn to red anything and when I see the red Diplademia in the nursery I am SOOOO tempted to add it to my garden. My problem is I don't have too many areas with full sun and they do like lots of sun or they just won't bloom. My pink one has been blooming since early spring and still going.

Nice pics, Rusty.
