GBBD is here again

A great day for gardeners bloggers bloom day! This morning, I went out to the garden with my camera. The weather was perfect and the flowers were looking good.

New this month in the garden--hibiscus in this gorgeous yellow-orange color.

I am giving hibiscus a second try. I could not resist the color of these flowers but this time, I am planting them in containers hoping they will do well.

I am told the celosia plant is a heavy reseeder. I hope I won't regret this choice later.

I love the blue daze, you know that. The powderpuff tree looks like a Mimosa. The Hibiscus are beautiful and the Celosia, you will not be disappointed with the feathers........it will go and grow everywhere. When the feathers dry they will be filled with tiny black seeds, where ever they land they grow! I just pull them up and through them in the woods and they grow there. Great for seed exchange.

The orange hibiscus is fantastic....but you already know that...I just had to tell you! Have you always gardened in Florida...I am trying to imagine after gardening here where orchids are not happy in the garden then one day moving to a place where they would line the sidewalk! Hard to imagine! Gail

Hi Rusty, yes, you do inspire orchid envy with me every winter. Thinking about a walk lined with them, and the bromeliads you can use as garden accents does stir those green feelings! :-) I love your new additions from Fairchilds? garden. The words Plant Sale ignite a fire within this gardener's heart! The orange hibiscus, and everything you have shown, proves you do live in paradise.

Rusty, Very nice color! I have an orange hibiscus that is about 4 feet tall now and has the very same color blooms all over it. I want to get some of that Celosia too for my back natural area... I won't mind if it reseeds back there.

The ground orchids are really fabulous aren't they?

Rusty in Miami, lucky you! You have flowers of all colours in bloom in your garden. Even black :)) in your white bird of paradise with its deep grey or blackish spathe, right?

I think I am repeating only what everyone else has said on here, that orange hibiscus is awesome! Love the true orange color of it. So neat.

You have a stunning array of blooms. Love the hot orange hibiscus. Celosia was a common cottage garden flower in the Caribbean when I was a child, ubiquitously called "cockcomb". Its so rare here, now. Just cut the spent blooms and of course it won't reseed. Do save seeds for next season. I actually planted a packet of seeds this weekend. The white bird of paradise is also striking.

Hi Rusty, we have so many blooms in common-Dracaena, yellow lantana, Powder-puff, Celosia...
I love your ground orchids and the blue daze hanging basket.
The orange Hibiscus is very vibrant!
Best Wishes

Love them all. What a pretty garden you have and what a lot of work also; but so worth it.
