After the freeze we had two weeks ago is hard to find any plant in the garden that was not affected by the cold. Only the Kalanchoe plants are thriving and in bloom.
It seems like the Kalanchoe can tolerate the cold weather with no problems at all.
Ring around the moon
I took this picture last night, folklore has it that a ring around the moon signifies bad weather is coming.

Fantastic blooms! I love kalanchoes!
I LOVE Kalanchoe!!! It adorns my garden as well. I'm amazed at how easily it propogates...the smallest leaflette falls off and it'll grow a whole new plant!! And the blooms this time of year can't be beat!!!
Great blooms, the are so gorgeous. I love the pinks. I think I might try them.
I love how your garden looks in the distance on the new pic on top of your blog, just beautiful.
I like kalanchoe as well...its the direct sun it doesn't like here...we are not going to think about the ring around the moon!
Rusty those kalanchoe are looking gorgeous ! It makes us feel so good when we see plants thriving after bad weather : ) and wow ! with that moon shot plus glowing circle .. beautiful !!

I so do like kalanchoes for their pretty winter show, their no care requirements and their ease of propagation. Glad you had some unaffected plants!
That'd all we have left blooming in our garden, too.
Guess the ring around the moon was true.Nasty here yesterday and today.Never got above 60 here in Tampa.
Hi Rusty...I don't like that bit of folklore about bad weather coming. We certainly don't need anymore! :-) Your Kalanchoes are beautiful!
Rusty,
I found two pots of Kalanchoe that I didn't even know I had last month. They were stuck away under a large fern plant and I noticed the blooms. Both are blooming profusely and were not effected by the cold either.
I saw that moon ring also. It was kind of spooky to look at.
Boy, You got that prediction right!!! Funny, I was thinking earlier today, that the only time I think about my water barrels is when it either runs dry or when it rains too much. Oh, if we could only save that water for April.
Hi Rusty, while beautiful, I hope the ring around the moon weather was not too harmful to you or the garden! It has been a harsh winter this time around. The kalanchoes are the prettiest thing at the stores right now, all those colors, they are so cheering. Glad they were unhurt by your cold. :-)
